The group from Cornerstone Church in Gresham, Oregon arrived last Saturday. Some of them have visited the NOE Centers before and are reconnecting with friends, and some new visitors are building relationships.
Yesterday, we had a birthday cake for Lydia Johnson and we baptized two of our students! Here are their stories:
Diego attends NOE Primero and he didn’t want to turn 20 years old without getting baptized because he loves the Lord. He was scared about what his friends and people around him might think about his decision. NOE Primero Director Juan Peralta, as well as Cornerstone visitors Rick Campbell and Todd Johnson had a talk with him and encouraged him to follow God with all his heart. Let’s pray that the Lord shows Diego that this was the right thing to do.
Pedro attends NOE Loma Libre and comes from a Catholic family, like the majority of Mexican families. His mom got baptized a few weeks ago and decided to bring his family to church. Pedro had heard about God through classes at NOE and decided to grow in his relationship with Him by taking this huge step.
Personally, I loved witnessing this special day for these two students. It was especially meaningful because I have known Diego and his family for a long time and I know he has a fire in his heart for the Lord. Pedro is a part of the first generation from NOE Loma Libre and has been such a blessing for his classmates and our staff. I love spending time with him and getting to know him better.
Praise God for these changed lives!
