My story is one of a poor kid growing up relatively disadvantaged and "at-risk". Poor nutrition and poor choices led to morbid obesity from childhood. I was basically fat, fatherless, and without much hope in the world.
Three things changed my life. Jesus, education, and exercise. God became the Father I never had growing up. School and education gave me a way to be successful. Diet and exercise gave me a way to get physically healthy.
Today, I still love and strive to follow Jesus. I am an English and Literacy teacher to disadvantaged children, and I'm also a committed father of four growing boys. Finally, through diet and exercise I've lost 121 pounds (and counting) and look forward to meeting my goal of running this half marathon in under 2 hours.
I'm proud to run for and raise money for NOE because they do for children many of the things I needed growing up. They give them hope through the gospel of Jesus. They give them education for future opportunity, and they give them nutrition and sports to nourish their physical health. NOE does this for the disadvantaged children needing hope, love, and physical care. They are Christ-like in the best way by caring for and providing for the little ones and the "least of these". It's an absolute honor to help them with their mission.
I ask my friends, family, and others to help me, help NOE, and help change the lives of these children.
