DAVID GRIGONIS

It has been a couple years since I have run in the Portland Marathon. I have been plagued with injuries of one type or another for the last year or so, but I am finally in a position to make another try at running and fundraising.

Sometimes I wonder whether it is harder to train for a long distance event or ask my friends for support, no matter how worthwhile the cause, but here it comes.

After a 20-year relationship with NOE, (New Opportunities in Education), I have found the relationships and successes unparalleled. NOE has been serving middle and underprivileged youth in Morelia, Mexico with homework help, computer skills and most importantly, English language learning. They have changed the lives of so many, the list is staggering. The fruits of this labor have brought forth such impressive young men and women that have grown into successful, believing individuals. These are people who now have gone on to college, found excellent jobs and remain in Mexico, making it a better place.
